So you're thinking of hiring a face painter or body bling artist for your child's birthday party or special event. If you've never done this before, there could be a lot of questions. We've created a list of a few questions and answers to help you understand what you should expect from your face painting experience; everything from the painter, to materials, even to pricing. Hopefully this list will be a help, but if you still have questions, feel free to contact us.

  • How early in advance should I book for face painting or body bling?

If you’re planning a party, Book Mr. Corey as early as you can. Typically two weeks or more is a good enough time for us to offer face painting or body bling services anywhere in the Washington D.C., Maryland or Virginia area.
  • How much does face painting or body bling cost?

How much you’ll spend on professional face painting or body bling services depends on the length of service you need, and sometimes, the distance the provider has to travel. Typically, services from a professional artist in the Washington D.C. area can run from $100 per hour up to about $250. At Mr. Corey’s, we travel throughout the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas to provide face painting and body bling services. We also travel nationally and internationally to teach face painting in workshops or conferences. For information on prices for parties and events, please see the Book Mr. Corey page. For information on booking workshops, please see the Teach Me Mr. Corey! page.
  • How many kids can be served in an hour?

Every artist is different, but you should expect a professional to be able to serve at least 12 clients per hour. Mr. Corey’s artists can typically serve between 15 and 20 per hour.
  • What if I want body bling?

If you want body bling, we have it. Body bling is a great choice for parties and special events, and Mr. Corey’s offers dozens of dozens of designs. Glitter tattoos are available in a variety of popular styles, and we have the latest technologies in temporary tattoos — gold and silver foil designs, and long-lasting ink designs. All of our temporary tattoos are water-proof, hypoallergenic and can last up to seven days. Kids and adults can swim, shower and play, and the designs won’t wash off! See our Book Mr. Corey page to inquire about body bling services for your next event.
  • Do I have to supply anything to the artist?

Although hosts typically do offer a table and chair for an artist to set up at a party, when you’ve hired a professional, no, you really shouldn’t have to supply anything at all. Mr. Corey’s comes to your event with everything we need to make your event a success.
  • What time should the artist arrive?

When you hire Mr. Corey’s you should expect your artist to arrive early enough to set up and be ready to take the fist customer at the agreed upon start time. The clock starts when the artist is set up and ready, not necessarily when your guests arrive. So if you’re not expecting guests until at least 30 minutes after your party’s start time, you should schedule your artist to arrive about the same time or later.
  • How many hours should I hire for?

That’s entirely up to you, and may depend on how many guests you expect to have at your event, and when you expect them to arrive. Birthday parties are typically two hours or more, and we often find that the kids aren’t the only ones who want designs. Other events, particularly if they are community or are scheduled for longer than two hours, may take longer.
  • When does work begin?

With Mr. Corey, you get what you pay for. Work begins as soon as the artist is set up, and concludes at the agreed upon time. If all of the guests have been painted before time is up, they are free to get a second design, and adults are always welcome to recieve designs as well.
  • Should we tip the artist?

If your artist has done a good job, you can feel free to tip. Tips are always appreciated!
  • I have more questions.

You do? No problem! We’ve tried to make this site as informative as possible, but maybe there’s something we’ve missed. If so, we are always happy to answer any additional questions. You can contact us using the Book Mr. Corey page on this site.
